GLEN BURNIE, Md.—Singer Equities Inc. has acquired the operating assets of industrial rubber hose distributor Summers Rubber Co. for an undisclosed sum.

Summers Rubber is based in Cleveland and operates eight locations in Ohio and Pennsylvania, specializing in fabricating hydraulic, industrial and metal hose assemblies, inspection, testing and certification services.

Singer said the firm—its eighth platform company—will continue to market the Summers Rubber brand. Frank Tiernay, a distribution industry veteran, will continue as vice president and general manager of the company, reporting to Singer President Don Fritz-inger.

Founded in 1949 by W.H. Summers, Summers Rubber employs about 60 and was owned by Michael P. Summers, who served as president.

“Mike has gathered an exceptionally talented group of individuals and we are extremely excited about the opportunity to carry on their legacy,” said Fritzinger. “This acquisition complements our strategy and establishes a solid Singer footprint in the Ohio market.”

Michael Summers, who also is mayor and public safety director of Lakewood, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, said: “Three generations of Summers are proud to hand the reins to Singer to lead the next round of growth and service to our customers.”

Singer Equities, along with Bishop Lifting Products, are wholly owned subsidiaries of SBP Holding L.P. The company provides wire rope and rigging products and industrial rubber goods to a variety of industrial end markets.

SBP Holding is a portfolio company of AEA Investors, a private equity firm headquartered in New York.
