MUMBAI, India (Dec. 8, 2010)—Apollo Tyres Ltd. has been recognized for its best-in-class manufacturing practices at the The Economic Times India Manufacturing Excellence Awards 2010, organized in partnership with Frost & Sullivan.

Apollo's manufacturing facility in Limda, in the western Indian state of Gujarat, won the Gold Award in the Process Sector, in the Mega Large Category. This award is given to only one company in the category.

Satish Agarwal, Apollo's chief of corporate manufacturing, in accepting the award, said, “We have been receiving the Gold Certificate of Merit for the last three years, and now we would be gearing for the highest recognition of IMEA, the Platinum Award. We have already identified the areas where we need to further improve—safety and environment, customer focus, visual management and operational flexibility.”
