A Parametric Study on Abrasion Wear of Rubber Compounds using Ueshima's FPS Abrasion Tester

The resistance to abrasive wear of the tread compound of a tire is arguably the most important factor that will determine the tread wear performance of the tire. Parametric studies were conducted to examine the effects of load, slip rate, slip angle, temperature, speed, talc flow rate, and sandpaper roughness on linear wear rate and abrasion energy. Both carbon black and silica compounds were tested using the Ueshima AB-2010 FPS Wear Testing System.
