FORT MILL, S.C. (June 1, 2010)—Two of Continental Tire the Americas L.L.C.'s truck tires have been added to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency SmartWay Transport Partnership's list of verified fuel savings technologies.

Continental's HSL2 Eco Plus and HDL2 Eco Plus recently were verified by SmartWay as low-rolling-resistance truck tires in size 295/60R22.5. Conti said these truck tires are a full three inches shorter than the 275/80R22.5 sizes, but each has 1,215 more pounds of additional carrying capacity in a single fitment for load range G.

The HSL2 Eco Plus is a heavy-steer, long-haul tire and the HDL2 Eco Plus is a heavy-drive long-haul tire.

Fort Mill-based Continental said it also participates in the SmartWay Transport Partnership as a shipper partner, committing to reduce its environmental impacts from ground freight transportation.
