A chemically modified p-aramid matrix (Sulfron 3001) decreases the hysteresis and heat buildup properties of critical tire compounds. This paper presents both truck and passenger tread and belt skims. Tire test data will be discussed in which a quantum drop in hysteresis is various compounds is expected to provide a 4% to 5% improvement in fuel efficiency.
