Improved Silica Dispersibility with Functionalized S-SBR for Lower Rolling Resistance

Dispersibility of silica can affect hysteresis loss properties. Some modified S-SBRs designed to successfully interact with silica have been developed and show significant reductions in the hysteresis loss of silica reinforced compounds. Transmission electron microscopy and ultra small angle X-ray scattering was carried out which validated the results obtained by dynamic viscoelastic measurement.
