This paper will present most recent testing history and performance results for a new and novel additive to latex products manufacturing lines and cohesive bandage products that use natural rubber latex as an adhesive. Bioblox™ has demonstrated the ability to significantly reduce extractable protein levels in gloves and other latex goods when compared to latex products using mature industry leaching procedures. The product is added directly to on-line leach tanks or post process washing stations, which in turn chemically enhance protein removal and reduces leaching temperatures and residence times, resulting in lower manufacturing cost. The protein reduction system is environmentally friendly and is used in very low dosages. Fully prepared technical data is available for presentation as validated by an independent testing laboratory for ASTM D5712-95 Lowry, FitKit Analysis, and ASTM D6499-03 Inhibition ELISA testing methods. Bioblox™ testing at the pilot plant continues today to further optimize protein reduction potential. The implementation of this system requires minimal change to manufacturing lines, making implementation of Bioblox™ seamless and user friendly.
