Silicone Form-in-Place Gaskets: Part Design and Automated Application Strategies

Form-In-Place Gasket (FIPG) technology allows for the precise application of a silicone elastomer to metal, glass or plastic substrate. This precision is accomplished by programming a multi-axis robot to dispense a silicone bead with a defined cross section to achieve a repeatable gasket. To achieve the optimal sealing functionality of RTV silicone, LSR silicone and EMI shielding, the subjects of substrate design, dispensing criteria and programming parameters will be addressed.
