Recent developments to achieve reduced cure times for the rubber injection process resulted in two different patent applications. One process is based on the concept of a reduced cure time by means of increased material temperatures achieved by means of heat transfer and is patented by a rubber parts manufacturer. The second development, patent pending, is based on the concept of reduced cure times by means of increased material temperature gained by dissipation. Both developments show tremendeous cure time reductions and are in operation at various locations with several processors. The paper discusses the technical background of the development. Results from companies working with these technologies will be disclosed and the impact on the productivity is documented.
