This presentation is a case study of scrap reduction and quality control of a rubber to metal bonded part through the use of compounding and rheology tools. This study outlines the thought process on how to take a high volume automotive product that was running over 50% scrap and bring the scrap to acceptable limits without retooling or new capital purchases. A brief outline in different mixing procedures and simple rheology techniques is shown to deliver batch to batch consistency which leads to maintaining consistent production.
