Jay Class was born in Baltimore. He earned his bachelor of science degree in chemistry from the University of Maryland and his doctorate in organic chemistry from Pennsylvania State University. He has spent his entire industrial career at Hercules Inc.'s Wilmington, Del., Research Center. Currently, he is a research associate. Class' primary activities have been with resins for modifying properties of rubber compositions and peroxide crosslinking.
Much of his work has been focused on the viscoelastic properties of compositions and their relationship to end-use performance.
